We've Rebuilt the Sourceful App from the Ground Up

Last week we released a completely new version of the Sourceful app. Not a facelift, but a full rebuild of both the app and the backend that powers it.

This isn't something we came up with overnight. Our ambition has always been to ship improvements quickly and keep raising the bar for how an energy app could and should feel like. With this release, we've taken a big step closer to that goal.

Below is a clear overview of what's new, what's temporarily missing, what's coming next, and why we made the call to rebuild.

What's New

The biggest change isn't just new features, it's how the app feels day to day.

The new app is faster, cleaner, and built around what you (our users) have been asking for. You can now create custom dashboards tailored to how you want to monitor your energy system.

The new Optimizer plan now includes price, energy, and state-of-charge overlays, giving you far more visibility into what your system is doing and why.

We've also migrated all existing accounts to the new backend. All you need to do is download the app or update to the latest version, no major action required.

What We Left Out (For Now)

We made a deliberate call to ship without migrating Reward points or the Explorer.

We know these matter to our community, and this wasn't a decision we took lightly. But we wanted to focus our resources on the improvements that make the most tangible difference to daily use, and ship the rebuild without compromising stability.

Reward points: a short freeze (your points are safe)

To make sure nobody ends up with duplicate points or misses out during the transition, we're putting points on a short freeze for a few weeks.

The most important thing: your points are safe. They will carry over when we re-enable the system and will not disappear.

We're also taking this opportunity to redesign the points and Rewards system, so stay tuned for more updates.

Historical energy data

When we migrate you to the new system, your historical energy data won't be transferred.

You'll be able to log in and download your historical data up to the point of migration.

You can download your historical data here: Download historical data

What's Coming Next

The next release will bring back Reward points and the Explorer, alongside a wave of new features:

  • Personalised savings reports so you can see clearly what you've saved and what's driving it.
  • Your personal price per kWh to make costs easier to understand in real terms.
  • Load forecasting to help you anticipate usage and plan smarter, especially when optimising around price or capacity.
  • Push notifications so the app can proactively tell you what's happening, without you having to check.
  • UI improvements for continued polish to the day-to-day experience.
  • Optimizer schedule list view for a clearer, more practical view of what the optimizer is doing.

And this is just the start - the pace is only going to increase from here. Want to see what's coming up? Check the Roadmap.

Why We Rebuilt

The honest answer? The old system was holding us back. We needed a foundation built for the speed and scale of what's coming.

One of the biggest behind-the-scenes shifts has been how we work as a team. Everyone has levelled up to become full-stack developers, which means fewer handoffs, less waiting, and changes that used to take weeks now take days. That means faster fixes, faster iteration, and a better product.

At the same time, we're signing contracts with installer networks and wholesalers, and gearing up for our next investment round. To put it lightly: the next twelve months are going to look very different.

A Note to Our Community

To our early adopters, beta testers, and contributors: thank you. You've tested things that were rough around the edges, given us honest feedback, and stuck with us through it.

If you find any issues in the new app, please reach out via Discord, our support email, or the help desk. We're listening, and we'll fix things fast.

This is just the beginning of what we're building. Thanks for being here.
